PMR-171: Your Ultimate Portable Radio Solution

The PMR-171 is an ultra-portable, full-range, full-mode SDR (Software-Defined Radio) carrier radio. It offers a receiving frequency range from 100kHz to 2GHz and covers the amateur transmission band from 160m to 70cm. This wide frequency range allows for transmission and reception across all commonly used frequency bands.

Design and Power Supply

  • The PMR-171 features an external battery compartment, perfect for field use. It has a replaceable battery compartment design with dual battery backup and ultra-low receiving current for extended battery life.

  • It includes a DC power interface, making it suitable for fixed stations or vehicle stations.

  • The PMR-171 supports an external 5AH battery compartment and DC port power supply, with a power supply voltage range of 9VDC to 18VDC. All power ports come with anti-reverse polarity protection.

Display and Interface

  • The PMR-171 is equipped with a high-brightness, high-resolution LCD display, with adjustable backlight brightness for clear visibility outdoors.

  • The front panel has a full keyboard design for easy operation, with an adjustable keyboard backlight for use in dark environments.

  • An encoder is provided for quick parameter adjustments, and the hand microphone with a numeric keypad can control most functions of the station.

Operating Modes and Connectivity

  • The PMR-171 supports multiple operating modes including FT8, USB, LSB, CW, AM, FM, RTTY, DMR (optional), and WFM (receive only).

  • It has a built-in Bluetooth module, enabling wireless control via the QRadioBLE mobile app, making operation more convenient and faster. The Bluetooth module also supports wireless FT8, reducing common mode interference.

  • The USB cable integrates a sound card and serial port, allowing control of the station with a single cable. All amateur radio software is supported.

Advanced Features

  • The PMR-171 includes advanced features typically found in large base stations. These features include:

    • Dual VFO mode and split-frequency operation support

    • Intermediate frequency offset adjustment and receive frequency fine-tuning

    • Intermediate frequency noise suppression and AGC speed selection

    • RF gain adjustment, squelch control, pre-attenuator, and AM broadcast reception

    • Built-in automatic telegraph key and automatic key point ratio adjustment

    • Built-in CTCSS analog sub-tone and automatic sleep function

    • Transmit timeout function (TOT), computer connection, and computer-aided control functions

Optional Features

  • The PMR-171 offers several optional features, such as a GPS module for global positioning and timing, which can also output positioning and timing data to other devices.

  • An electronic compass module for measuring altitude and travel direction.
