SITREP 27MAR24 - The Early Warning Report

DEMOCRATS FOMENTING RISE OF COUNTER-ELITE: Washington D.C. Bar Office of Disciplinary Counsel chief Hamilton Fox said former Trump administration Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyer Jeffrey Clark attempted “essentially a coup at the Justice Department” when Clark pushed to take over as acting Attorney General after the 2020 election.

Clark circulated a draft letter on 28 DEC 2020 saying the DOJ “identified significant concerns that may have impacted the outcome of the election” in election battleground states.

Clark’s lawyer, Harry MacDougald, said Clark should not be sanctioned “for giving a candid opinion in a privileged, confidential conversation.”

NBC News fired former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel after NBC employees heavily criticized the network for hiring McDaniel.

Why It MattersDemocrat-aligned lawmakers and officials punishing former Trump administration and pro-Trump officials, blocking future employment in the private sector and a possible future Trump administration, incentivizing pro-Trump elites to defect to a growing counter-elite movement. Democratic lawmakers and officials likely think punishing pro-Trump elites will cause them to simply leave elite pathways. However, pro-Trump elites are very likely to seek alternative pathways to maintain their elite status, pushing them toward a burgeoning U.S. counter-elite. – R.C.

NERC WARNS OF INCREASED GRID THREATS BEFORE ELECTION: North American Electricity Reliability Corporation (NERC) CEO Jim Robb said the NERC is “anticipating a fairly active year on the security front” from state-based hackers and physical attacks on power substations.

Deputy National Security Advisor Anne Neuberger requested cybersecurity plans from all states by 20 May at a recent meeting with governors, detailing how states are working to secure water and wastewater infrastructure.

Why It MattersChina-linked hacking groups like Volt Typhoon remain a significant threat to U.S. critical infrastructure networks and are pre-positioning on infrastructure networks ahead of a 2027 conflict expected by U.S. officials and lawmakers. The most dangerous course of action to disrupt a U.S. whole of government mobilization would be an attack on infrastructure around polling locations and election official offices prior to or during election day. This would very likely lead to an election failure and significantly disrupt a U.S. response to Chinese actions against Taiwan. – R.C.

STATES COPY TEXAS’ SB 4 AFTER SCOTUS GIVES GREEN LIGHT: Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, and Louisiana are working to pass state laws that copy Texas’ Senate Bill (SB) 4, allowing state authorities to arrest illegal immigrants and punish them with jail time, fines, or deportation after the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) allowed Texas to begin enforcing SB 4.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said, “States have stepped in to secure the border.” “Americans deserve nothing less. I look forward to signing SF 2340 into law.”

Why It MattersThe Biden administration and Democratic operatives will very likely file lawsuits against these state immigration laws. A circuit split would likely push SCOTUS to accelerate the timeline of the Biden administration or state appeals and will very likely decide against these state immigration laws. More Red State Coalition states adopting these laws will likely push illegal immigrants to blue states, increasing Democrat-held seats in the House and Electoral College votes after the 2030 census and redistricting. – R.C.

PHILADELPHIA ANARCHISTS ISSUE ALL-CALL FOR ACTION: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based anarchists issued an all-call for autonomous action against the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (PADOC).

The post called for a diversity of tactics and direct action, which will likely result in more destructive vandalism in addition to nonviolent civil disobedience and public pressure campaigns.

Organizers say that PADOC personnel at the SCI Rockview in Bellefonte, PA, hung two nooses in an office where prisoners could see them.

Why It Matters: An autonomous direct action campaign invites anyone, regardless of location or cause, to engage in anonymous or known-identity action. That could include anything from organizing phone calls to building media awareness and public pressure against PADOC to direct action, such as vandalism or violence. A follow-up post contains a map of PADOC locations where direct action could take place (image below). – M.S.
